In order to get our school built we know that we have to create a community, within Liberia and around the world.
We need supporters who are willing to share skills, knowledge and expertise. Jaya Kader is one of these supporters.
Jaya is the Fou
nding Principle of KZ Architecture in Miami and in July 2017 took a leap of faith in joining Simon in Liberia.

Whilst there she met the people of Duwehn Town and researched the environment, the materials and the local construction skills required to build the school; on her return to Miami she developed the plans and created the first renderings of our school……a huge milestone!
Now Jaya and Simon will be presenting the architectural designs for the Duwehn Town at the Biennale Architettura 2018 exhibition in Venice, Italy in May. They are attending at the invitation of the GAA Foundation, a Dutch non-profit organisation that aims to heighten the awareness about the more philosophical themes in contemporary art, architecture and in culture in general.
The Biennale Architettura 2018 International Exhibition has chosen the theme of Freespace for this its 16th iteration and will present examples – built or unbuilt – of work that exemplifies essential qualities of the embodied power and beauty of architecture.
Our intention is to showcase Jaya’s inspiring designs and tell the story of how the coach and the architect came together under the banner of transformation. We also intend to attract funding partners and to build the community of support for the project – and, as always, be open to new and exciting opportunities that may present themselves.
The event runs from May until November and Jaya and Simon will be attending the Preview on May 24th and 25th 2018.
Here is an episode of a radio show that Jaya spoke about the project on. The show is called Fresh Art International and sparks conversations with diverse culture makers from around the world.
